BEARING EDGES SJC Custom Drums come with precision hand cut bearing edges. Each edge is cut by a skilled worker on one of our in-house built routering stations. Edges are inspected and polished on a special wheel developed by SJC to ensure an even, consistent bearing edge. We also hand sand, polish, oil and wax the bearing edges of your shells to assure the best drumhead placement to achieve the best tone and resonance out of your drums.

Our standard bearing edge is a double 45 degree edge, although any type of bearing edge can be cut on your shells. Feel free to contact us with any special requests, we love catering different edges to meet your needs. From roundovers to inverted 45 edges on top and a 30 degree edge on the bottom, our skilled craftsmen here at SJC are ready and capable to make your dream drumset come to life.

REINFORCEMENT RINGS Reinforcement rings can be added to any shell. 6ply re-rings are our standard, though the thickness can be customized in any way. Reinforcement rings raise the fundamental pitch of the drum and also offers quicker attack. Re-rings also add extra stability to the drum shell, making it thicker overall and a bit stronger. 6ply Maple re-rings are our standard, but we can install re-rings in any shell in any ply, wood type, and we cut any type of bearing edge on them. We can also wrap the re-ring in an exotic veneer to add a little extra customization to the inside of your drum.
